Dorset House is situated alongside the green heart of Christchurch, next to the magnificent Hagley Park where you can walk along the Avon River and feed the ducks or just relax surrounded by trees and greenery. The hostel is just a ten minute walk away from Cathedral Square, the centre of Christchurch with its museums and art galleries and it’s just two minutes walk away from bars, cafes and restaurants.
Dorset House has recently been upgraded and redecorated to cater for travellers who wish to experience up-market facilities at budget prices. There are no bunk beds, but comfortable and modern facilities and service with a smile.
Yet with all the modern amenities, Dorset House is still steeped in the character of the early Christchurch pioneers. Built in 1871 as the home for the wealthy timber merchant, J B Way, it once featured 27 rooms and three Italian marble fireplaces.
Dorset House has policies to ensure the environment in and around the Hostel is pleasant and secure. We are a member of several tourism organisations. Have a look at our FAQ to answer several frequently asked questions.
